Abstract

Abstract—The equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) method
is an effective way to obtain ultrafine grained materials with
favourable mechanical properties. During extrusion the material
behaviour is influenced by various factors, such as material
properties, geometry of the die or processing parameters such as friction factor, extrusion speed or temperature. The aim of this paper is to carry out a finite element analysis of the ECAP
process on a sample made of the AA6063 aluminium alloy with
the help of the Abaqus software in order to investigate influence
of friction factor on the value and distribution of deformation
imposed into the sample together with plastic flow and dead zone occurrence.
