Measurement and Improved Calibration of Parallel Machine Sliding Star

The paper deals with the calibration of
redundantly actuated parallel structures. Described
redundant calibration algorithm is modified in order to
receive more accurate dimensions and therefore gain
better machine accuracy.
In this paper, several parabolic and polynomial
replacements of carriage guidances are described and
applied on experimentally received calibration data.
Described and proposed modifications of calibration
algorithms are used on the measured datasets acquired on
an experimental prototype of parallel mechanism Sliding
Star which will be used for the experiments with the
motion control.
The paper contains comparison of calibrations results,
discussion and brief future research is also described.
