Audiovisual record of vowel /a:/ phonation

Abstract


In this work sound records during phonation of vowel /a:/ were
acquisited and were properly associated with magnetic resonance (MR) image data as a base of computational model of vocal tract. Frequency response of the model and frequency spectra of sound signal were compared to verification of veracity of the model.

Associtation of audio track to MR image data was carried out by virtue of video recording of face profile acquisited simultaneously along sound recording. By registration of face images with MR images of vocal tract in mid-sagittal plane were obtained association of both type of images for same vocal tract set up.

Result is frequency characteristic comparison of computed and
measure data for three different pitch of vowel /a:/.

Frequency spectra of recorded sound and frequency response of computational model exhibit similar trend.
