Focus and Scope
The aim and scope of the Bulletin of Applied Mechanics is to convey scientific progress in applied mechanics to those concerned with application of this knowledge for the engineering practice. It addresses itself primarily to students, teachers, as well as to mechanical, civil and biomedical engineers involved in the study and practical application of mechanics. The Bulletin publishes original contributions in the field of experimental and numerical mechanics, mechanics of materials, biomechanics and review articles by experts on new developments in theoretical mechanics and advances in experimental techniques. An important aim of the Bulletin is to achieve a balance between academic material and practical applications.

Peer Review Process
Peer review in Bulletin of Applied Mechanicsis designed to ensure that the research published is 'good science'.
Bulletin of Applied Mechanics accepts articles spanning a wide range of scientific interests, as long as the results and conclusions are scientifically justified and not misleading.
We recognize the importance of highlighting articles that contain the most interesting, important or significant research. Peer reviewers are asked to indicate which articles they consider to be especially interesting or significant. These articles will be given greater prominence within Bulletin of Applied Mechanics and greater external publicity.
Submitted articles will generally be reviewed by two external experts.
Peer reviewers will have four possible options, for each article:
- accept without revision
- accept after revision without expecting to check those revisions
- neither accept nor reject until author(s) make revisions and resubmit
- reject because scientifically unsound
When asking for revisions, reviewers have two possible goals: to ask authors to tighten their arguments based on existing data or to identify areas where more data are needed.
Bulletin of Applied Mechanicsnormally allows authors a maximum of two revisions of an article.
Peer reviewers are asked to say if the article is not sufficiently clearly written for publication. In such cases authors are asked to revise the article, seeking, if necessary, the assistance of colleagues or a commercial editing service.
We aim to publish research as quickly as possible. Our electronic submission process is designed to facilitate rapid publication.
Publication Frequency
Bulletin of Applied Mechanics is scheduled for publication in quarterly.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides open access to all of its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Such access is associated with increased readership and increased citation of an author's work. For more information on this approach, see the Public Knowledge Project, which has designed this system to improve the scholarly and public quality of research, and which freely distributes the journal system as well as other software to support the open access publishing of scholarly resources.
